“Believe in what you are doing, and you too will see the great effect of your belief upon those whom you may request to help you. Doubt yourself and the No part of your mind takes over and draws defeat instead of victory.”

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have it all? You, no doubt, know people who have good jobs, or own businesses, and are what most people would consider successful.

Here is a list of some of the reasons I have heard as to why some people do well financially:

1.) They are just lucky at everything. Whatever they touch seems to turn to gold.
2.) They must have inherited a lot of money.
3.) To get that MUCH money, they must be dishonest.

These same people all have wants, wishes, dreams, and a host of other characteristics, none of which produce results.

Here is the simple thing that separates the haves from the have nots: Most people want nice houses, financial security, and other products of being successful, but simply wanting something will not bring results. Just wanting will keep you in the 95% of people who are not truly successful. Successful people make decisions and take action that will lead to a better life. Once the decision is made, they consciously or subconsciously follow the success principles that Napoleon Hill studied during his lifetime.

Deciding what you really want should become your definite major purpose, which Hill said was the starting point of all achievement. But deciding on a definite major purpose is only a starting point. Plans and action are the next steps, because the best ideas are worthless unless they are acted upon. The word ACTION even appears eighty-five times in the classic book, Think and Grow Rich.

Applied faith, or the belief that you will succeed, is also important. You will also discover that the other principles, such as the Mastermind principle, are important because you can use the wisdom of others to achieve your goals.

My late friend, Zig Ziglar, often said that it all comes down to “How bad do you want it?” Once you find the answer to that question, and follow the success principles, you will be a successful person instead of a “victim”, who can only list the reasons why they aren’t a success.

I wish you the best at whatever you do!

THE GOOD NEW DAYS

None but the futile mourn the past,
Or waste their hours in vain berating;
Each day is richer than the last;
There are new worlds to conquer waiting!

Though somber sunsets lend a wan
Regret to pleasant days gone from us,
The pilgrim stars go wheeling on,
And dawns bring new demesnes of promise!

The path that yesterday we trod
Was bright with blossom, sweet with clover;
Yet there must be a richer sod
Where the horizon trail dips over.

Onward and upward, mile on mile;
Deaf to the jibes, the mocker’s chorus;
Facing each hazard with a smile –
Till a new world lies wide before us!

There is no going back. Why bind
Your swift pace with a phantom fetter?
Forget the good old days behind.
Go on – and make the new ones better!
~ Ted Olson

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

“Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of my fellow men, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received” ~Albert Einstein

Dear Readers:

I have had the privilege of studying under Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes for the past several years, and her teachings and ideas have moved me forward in my interpretation of Dr. Hill’s works from a psychological advantage. How we look at life determines how we live our lives, and by viewing the world from different perspectives and peeling back the layers of onion we come to realize that everything — yes, everything — points to one, divine, universal source of being. The Creator, Infinite Intelligence, God, or whomever or whatever called by any name, is the same universal energy now and forevermore. How we come to appreciate this source of all depends upon where we stand and intend to move in life. When we realize that each and everyone of us lives and moves and has our very being inside this force, we recognize our togetherness, unity, and even divinity since the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Since we are a part of the whole, we can never be separated from it nor it us. A beautiful concept that breaths life into our every cell, our entire being, and our life’s work.

Dr. Napoleon Hill gives us the system for success that each person can begin to study and apply, and the Creator gives us the mind, body, spirit, soul, and heart to enable us to use the system from different vantage points. As we view ourselves as a system that must be united in order to function properly, the ability to put ourselves together for our best advantage in life takes on new meanings and challenges. By applying the principles, and studying the philosophy we can begin to use all the tools that are available.

Dr. Estes uses storytelling and many common denominators in life to demonstrate life’s plan and purpose for her students. Although she is a Senior Jungian Analyst, she bridges the gap for many people by returning us to our source and uncovering life’s intricacies in a simple and gentle manner. Her books and audios including Women Who Run With the Wolves are classics in their field and enable her readers to gain insight into themselves and others. She holds many titles and her credits and resume are extensive, but to me her most unique gift is to see beyond this world and next to bring her insight back for the benefit of others. Her contributions to making the world a better place exceed those of many, but her humaneness and the ability to walk in two worlds makes her a healer, helper, and heroine of our times.

I suggest that you broaden your understanding of Dr. Hill’s works by reading parallel materials that help you gain further insight. Consider how you learned to read and how your reading progression took you from picture books, to simple story books, to books with few pictures, and then possibly poetry and novels and other forms of fiction and non-fiction. In a similar manner, your understanding of progressive motivational self-help materials should expand in the direction in which you feel comfortable. Always being fed the same diet and reading the same menu can become boring and lacking in taste. Why not investigate corresponding materials that will allow you to make comparisons and contrasts? You will be the better for it, I promise.

Be Your Very Best Always!

The Law of Success

The Creator Whom I Know
by Napoleon Hill

The Creator whom I know is not separated from me by light-years nor by any other distance. I see evidence of His existence in every blade of grass, every flower, every tree, every creature on this earth, in the order of the stars and the planets which float out there in space, in the electrons and protons of matter, and most especially in the marvelous working principles of the human mind and the body within which it operates.

If you would rather speak of a force or a presence for a limitless intelligence rather than a Creator, it is the same. It is there. Is it affected by our worship? I doubt it. Can we sometimes attune ourselves so that we receive help from universal vibrations? This, I believe, is almost certainly true.

I do not even attempt to guess the over-all purpose or plan behind the universe. So far as I can tell, there is not a plan for man except to come into this world, live a little while, and go. While he lives he is given the opportunity to make himself and his fellow men better beings, perhaps a more advanced form of man, as Lecomte du Noüy suggests. But-his ultimate purpose? I do not think anyone knows more about that than I know, and I know nothing about it.

FOCUS ON: Cyndi Bester, MEd

Retaliation

Over the span of 20 years I have had the opportunity to interview close to 500 candidates for various positions in the healthcare field. I have meet with individuals from all walks of life who held a desire to work with those that required services of basic homecare to full ICU medical attention.

I would start the interview by reviewing the most formal aspects first. Ensuring that the person was qualified for the position they are being interviewed for, as well develop an understanding of their general professional philosophies.

Then, I would ask some questions that hit the human side of the person, to see how they would react in situations that may make them uncomfortable.

I would look straight at them and ask “what is the worst customer service you have ever experienced?”

It is amazing how many peoples faces immediately drop and a sudden look of tension takes over their body. I ask them to give me the details of the situation and the emotions they felt and how they reacted. Most of the details are negative in nature, which they should be, as this is the WORST experience ever, and it becomes very evident that a sensitive nerve in them had been struck and made a lasting impression in their life story.

After sitting for a couple moments in the awkward unknown of the next direction of questioning I would switch it to “now tell me about the best customer service you have ever had.” It was always refreshing to see the tide change quickly as the person took a deep breath and turned all thoughts to positive descriptions and emotions. You could see them physically change their stance and a smile almost always emerged.

The main reason for this line of discussion was to see if retaliation in a negative situation was the candidates first instinct or reaction to a situation. When working with clients in a healthcare situation it is important to are able to always take the positive path.

Throughout our lives we all have situations that may cause harm physically, mentally or spiritually. The path we take to deal with recovery from a negative situation defines our success, both professionally and personally. Napoleon Hill tells us that nature holds two envelopes for our path. One envelope is Rewards and the other envelop is Penalties. Benefits comes from the one labeled as rewards and misery comes from the one labelled as penalties.

It was my job to ensure that we had a team of professionals who (could) take possession of their minds and direct them toward desirable objectives. We needed a team that would strive to live on the reward side of life, not only themselves, but also for our clients. Life for our clients was a special commodity and often we were helping them with the simplest of successes in a day and those successes needed to be met with rewards.

The negative “customer service” stories help us know what we do not want to experience and help us strive to live in the positive experience side of the world. Next time the negative tries to take over your day, turn to the reward side – as no one likes to live their life in the “penalty box.”

“It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

The Little Book of Leadership

The Path to Personal Power

by Napoleon Hill

This true lost manuscript from the “grandfather of self-help,” Napoleon Hill provides timeless wisdom on how to attain a more successful and wealthy life using simple principles.

Napoleon Hill first wrote The Path to Personal Power in 1941, intending it as a handbook for people lifting themselves out of the Great Depression. But upon the bombing of Pearl Harbor and America’s entrance into World War II, these lessons were put aside and largely forgotten–until today.

Discovered in the archives of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, this never-before-published work is made up of three easily digested lessons, each its own chapter: Definiteness of Purpose; the Master Mind; and Going the Extra Mile.

This concise book is a powerful road map that leads to a single discovery–you already have the power to attain whatever wealth, success, and prosperity you desire in life. All you need to do is walk the path without straying, and the rest will follow.

Using these lessons, you have principles to live by that will help you stay on your own personal path to power, and achieve success that you never thought possible.

Will be released on July 18, 2017 on Amazon.com

How to Own Your Own Mind

Locked in a vault since 1941, here is Napoleon Hill’s definitive lesson on how to organize your thinking to attain success!

In How to Own Your Mind, you receive a one-of-a-kind master class in how to think for success from motivational pioneer and author of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill. In three compelling chapters, Hill demonstrates how to organize, prioritize, and act on information so that it translates into opportunity.

Knowledge is not power. Only applied knowledge is power. This book teaches you how to use what you know, and how to know what’s worth knowing.

“The name Napoleon Hill is synonymous with practical advice on how to get ahead.”—Mitch Horowitz, CNBC.com

Think and Grow Rich

by Napoleon Hill

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
