MORE DYNAMITE!!

The Foundation is proud to announce that the second book in the series based on the long lost Mental Dynamite booklets written by Napoleon Hill will be published by Random House/Penguin on September 19. Titled “How to Own Your Own Mind,” the book focuses on three of the seventeen principles: Creative Vision, Organized Thought and Controlled Attention. These principles show how you can focus and use your mind to carry out your definite major purpose. The book is available for pre-order on Amazon now.

Creative Vision includes the power of imagination and is the means by which one recognizes opportunities. Organized Thought, when combined with will power and self- discipline, is the means by which Creative Vision is fully developed. And Controlled Attention, coupled with intense concentration, is how thought is turned into action.

Napoleon Hill often said that action is critical to success, but one must think before one can grow rich, and this book, with many examples and success stories, will show you how to think and gain control of your own mind. We are sure you will enjoy and benefit from these chapters, timeless and still valid after many decades in the Foundation’s archives.

Now available on Amazon!

“Any business whose management has the foresight to adopt a policy which consolidates management, employees and the public it serves in a spirit of team work, provides itself with an insurance policy against failure.” ~Napoleon Hill

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

Act of Kindness

“Pay it forward” has become a popular term that means responding to someone’s random act of kindness by doing a random act of kindness for someone else. An example of this is when one person does a good deed, and the deed continues to multiply to others. Napoleon Hill would most likely categorize this idea under his success principle of Going the Extra Mile.

Just imagine, if we ask the recipient of our kindness to pay it forward, random acts of kindness would quickly spread, and there would be no end in sight.

A few years ago, Psychology Today wrote that there was a clear line between the act of “paying it forward” and generosity. Psychology studies show that there are many positive benefits for the generous individual.

When we act in a spirit of generosity, our random acts of kindness will benefit people we may never know or meet. Nevertheless, the world will be greatly benefited by any act of generosity.

Just remember, when you extend an act of kindness, at least two people will benefit. One person is yourself, and the other person is the one who receives the kindness. Try paying it forward today, and you will feel better about yourself.

I wish you the best in all that you do.

The Law of Success

Going the Extra Mile Pays
by Napoleon Hill

I chose the principle of Going the Extra Mile for analysis in this column today for the reason that the whole world is rapidly becoming spiritually bankrupt mainly because a majority of the people have put this principle in reverse gear by trying to get something for nothing! I suspect it is because the real spiritual meaning of the rule has not been generally understood. In final analysis it is the Golden Rule streamlined and applied to human relationships in all walks of life. Lloyd Douglas caught the full meaning of this great universal rule and interpreted it in his book, Magnificent Obsession, which made a profound impression on those who read the book.

This country may need a two-ocean navy; it may need the largest fleet of airplanes in the world; it may need production of war materials on a huge scale; and I think it needs all these; but what it needs most of all is for the people, all of us, to stop trying to get without giving, and begin now, to Go The Extra Mile, in the same spirit that the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence applied this rule, when the “freest and richest” country known to civilization was born.

This is not only the way to salvation of our souls (for some of us seem not so much concerned about our souls as we are about our pocketbooks) but it is the quickest and surest way to self-determination economically, for it is as true as that night follows day, that the man who does more than he is paid for, and does it in a pleasant mental attitude, sooner or later is paid for more than he does. The rule has never been known to fail during the thirty-odd years I have been observing it.

Art Linkletter
Watch Where You’re Going

At a very young age, I was diagnosed with a disease that would result in my blindness. Shortly after the diagnosis, I was invited to a positive thinking rally which featured some of the greatest speakers of all time. Art Linkletter was among them. He was a marvelous platform speaker and was a tremendous force in the entertainment industry.

If you were around in the 1950s and early 1960s, you probably remember watching Art Linkletter’s House Party on television. Who could forget his interviews with children, during which he would ask them simple, innocent questions and often receive answers that brought to mind the phrase “out of the mouths of babes”? Mr Linkletter, of course, turned that phrase into “Kids say the darndest things” and even wrote a book by the same title.

He wrote several other books as well, including How to Be a Super Salesman, Yes, You Can!, Public Speaking for Private People, and Linkletter on Dynamic Selling; but when I asked him to share his thoughts on hindsight and what he had learned, his reply had nothing to do with selling yourself or some product. It had to do with giving of yourself. I think you will enjoy this story.

For a good many years, I visited and spoke at the Braille Institute here in Los Angeles during their Christmas celebrations, and I know how much more joyful they make the holiday season. Occasionally, something happens to underscore the rewards that I have received from being a part of their programs.

About two years ago following one of these appearances, I was out having a Sunday joy ride with my family in Beverly Hills and inadvertently made a left-hand turn at an intersection without noticing that a man was on the curb with a white cane and a Seeing Eye dog.

He stepped off the curb, and even though I was proceeding slowly and slammed on my brakes immediately, he walked into the fender and fell down. Naturally, I was horrified at having caused a blind man to fall down and was relieved when he appeared to be all right. But right after, the thought of potential headlines occurred to me, since in these litigious days, any well-known person can be hauled through courts and the tabloids as a result of even a minor accident such as this one.

In assisting him to his feet and blurting out my profuse apologies, he stopped me by saying, “Aren’t you Art Linkletter? I think I recognize your voice because two days ago you were entertaining us at the Braille Institute.” I acknowledged that I was the same and apologized again, and he stopped me and said, “Don’t worry, please, about this accident; you will have no problems with me. And even if you had run over me, what you do for us at Christmastime is worth so much that I would forgive almost anything you could do.”

Talk about bread cast upon the waters.

He’s right. You never know when one of your acts of kindness will come back to you in a timely, beneficial way.

There is another quote attributed to Mr. Linkletter that ties in with the idea of putting something in to get something out. Of course, we should never “give to get”, but there are times when we need to give our best effort in order to achieve the success we are after.

People find gold in fields, veins, river beds, and pockets. But wherever you find gold, it takes work to get it out.

Let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.

The Path to Personal Power

by Napoleon Hill

This true lost manuscript from the “grandfather of self-help,” Napoleon Hill provides timeless wisdom on how to attain a more successful and wealthy life using simple principles.

Napoleon Hill first wrote The Path to Personal Power in 1941, intending it as a handbook for people lifting themselves out of the Great Depression. But upon the bombing of Pearl Harbor and America’s entrance into World War II, these lessons were put aside and largely forgotten–until today.

Discovered in the archives of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, this never-before-published work is made up of three easily digested lessons, each its own chapter: Definiteness of Purpose; the Master Mind; and Going the Extra Mile.

This concise book is a powerful road map that leads to a single discovery–you already have the power to attain whatever wealth, success, and prosperity you desire in life. All you need to do is walk the path without straying, and the rest will follow.

Using these lessons, you have principles to live by that will help you stay on your own personal path to power, and achieve success that you never thought possible.

Will be released on July 18, 2017 on Amazon.com

Think and Grow Rich

by Napoleon Hill

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
