MORE DYNAMITE!!

The Foundation is proud to announce that the second book in the series based on the long lost Mental Dynamite booklets written by Napoleon Hill has been published by Random House/Penguin and is now available. Titled “How to Own Your Own Mind,” the book focuses on three of the seventeen principles: Creative Vision, Organized Thought and Controlled Attention. These principles show how you can focus and use your mind to carry out your definite major purpose. The book is available for pre-order on Amazon now.

Creative Vision includes the power of imagination and is the means by which one recognizes opportunities. Organized Thought, when combined with will power and self- discipline, is the means by which Creative Vision is fully developed. And Controlled Attention, coupled with intense concentration, is how thought is turned into action.

Napoleon Hill often said that action is critical to success, but one must think before one can grow rich, and this book, with many examples and success stories, will show you how to think and gain control of your own mind. We are sure you will enjoy and benefit from these chapters, timeless and still valid after many decades in the Foundation’s archives.

Now available on Amazon!

“Any business whose management has the foresight to adopt a policy which consolidates management, employees and the public it serves in a spirit of team work, provides itself with an insurance policy against failure.” ~Napoleon Hill

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

Dear Readers,

I remember the first time that I met Jamil Albuquerque, which was about seven years ago in Indiana. We were sitting around a conference table when Jamil asked that each attendant introduce themselves and state what language they spoke proficiently. As each person went around the table introducing themselves, I realized quickly that most of the people here were bilingual. When it finally was my turn to introduce myself, I simply wrote a large dollar sign on the legal pad I was using to take notes to show everyone that I spoke the language of money. The response was very welcomed by the group as the dollar sign is known around the world.

Jamil was interested in teaching the seventeen success principles and wanted to license our course in Brazil. This first meeting happened in 2010, and this week Jamil visited our offices in Wise to learn more about Napoleon Hill and to get to know the place where he grew up. Today, Jamil and his company continue to teach the success principles in Brazil, Portugal and other countries that speak Portuguese. He is truly helping to make the world a better place in which to live by sharing Hill’s message around the world.

I wish you the best in all that you do.

The Law of Success

University of Experience
by Napoleon Hill

(In recalling a discussion, Napoleon Hill relates what was stated by Andrew Carnegie below.)

“There is no school which equals the good old ‘University of Experience.’ This is one school where ‘cribbing’ is not possible. One either graduates on merit, or does not graduate at all, and the teacher is the student himself. Skill is developed in every calling through the coordination of the faculties of the mind and the physical body. Such coordination is attained through controlled habits. But unless a man becomes action conscious, he will never become an organized thinker. He may think from morning until night, but he will never build a bridge, or manage an industry successfully, unless he acquires the habit of putting his theories to the test through action. Right here is where many men deceive themselves by believing they are organized thinkers. I have heard many men say, ‘I have been thinking of doing this or that, but so far, I have found no way to do it.’ The main weakness of such men is that they have left out of their thinking one important factor — physical action expressed through definiteness of purpose.

“If a man wishes to do something he should begin right where he is. Many will say, ‘What shall I use for tools? Where will I get the necessary working capital? Who will help me?’ Men who accomplish anything worthy of mention usually begin before everything they need is at hand. I have never yet been entirely ready for anything that I have undertaken, and I doubt if anyone else ever has been.

“Decisions have to be made, objectives chosen, and plans created for the attainment of the objectives. The man who hesitates to make a decision, when he has all of the necessary facts at hand, will never get anywhere. He will find himself outmoded by fast thinkers who express their thoughts in terms of action.”

Maximizing your Mind
by Jim Stovall

We use our minds to try to understand how everything in the world works, but the subject we may know least about is our mind itself. Scientists have determined that the thing our minds may be most effective at doing is misleading, fooling, or deluding us. Whether it’s the airline pilot on approach who doesn’t see a jumbo jet sitting right in front of him on the runway because he doesn’t expect to, or the multitude of eyewitnesses who each emphatically report they all saw something different from one another, it’s clear that our minds are complicated entities that are part of us and somewhat independent agents at the same time.

The more we learn about how our minds work, the more it is clear that we are just beginning to scratch the surface of how we think, how we process, how we remember, and how we learn.

Much of the study about the human mind centers on academic pursuits, but there are a few recent breakthroughs that can be very practical to you and me in our personal and professional lives.

Recently it has been determined that making a decision is one of the most difficult tasks our minds perform. The decision-making process takes a tremendous amount of energy whether the decision we are making is a significant one or not. Science has revealed that the fewer decisions people make, the more rational they are in the decision-making process. It seems that high-functioning minds are engaged primarily in high-functioning problems.

Many great leaders and thinkers historically ate the same thing for breakfast, traveled the same way to work or school, and wore the same clothes on a regular basis. Routine decisions for many high-functioning thinkers are more a matter of habit than thought.

While great thinkers use their minds in conjunction with the latest technology in processing problems and solutions, they are likely to utilize notecards or a tablet of paper to keep their daily “to do” list.

While multitasking has become popular, it is not as efficient as we may think. Our minds seem to measure our progress based on how busy we feel or how stressed we are mentally; therefore, doing several things at once may give us a feeling of great achievement. In reality, when progress is measured, we could be better off by focusing on one thing at a time.

While our minds might tell us the longer and harder we focus the better we will perform, in reality research has shown that working in two-hour blocks of time, punctuated by a break or even a nap, may provide better results.

Data has shown that the highest-functioning, most-efficient minds may well be the least-distracted minds. Controlling email, phone calls, and other interruptions gives our minds the best chance to do their greatest work.

We are all different and function best in a variety of ways, but before you determine how you function most efficiently, it would be wise to measure your results instead of trusting how you feel.

As you go through your day today, remember that your mind is a powerful tool. Use it well.

Today’s the day!

Forty Years Walking with Napoleon Hill
by Jamil Albuquerque

When I arrived in the city of Balneário Camboriú, I was about nine years old. I used to sell popsicles on the beach, polish shoes at the bus station, sell firewood door to door, and carry customer’s groceries from the supermarket to their cars in exchange for tips. This was the way I helped to provide for my family. According to our church rules, children were not allowed to play nor watch television. They could go to the beach but only if it involved work. It was a “sin” to have fun. Therefore, I had no choice but to read during my leisure time. In the suburb where we lived, there was this public library just two blocks away from home. This public library became my “playground.”

By the time I was fourteen, a particular book had made a meaningful impact on my life; I felt like it was the beginning of something new. In the fall of the year 1978, I met for the very first time, Napoleon Hill through his book “The Law of Success.” It helped me to heal one of my mortal wounds which was the fear of poverty. This book was really helpful to me. It definitely gave me clear instructions on how I could accomplish my goals. He unified my thinking and gave me a direct and clear path to achieve what I desired. I learned in the book that over 90% of rich people were not born rich. It brought my thoughts together and showed me a direct and clear way to achieve what I wanted to. I learned from this book that over 90 % of rich people were not born rich. And also that the fact they were born poor represented a competitive advantage throughout their lives, since they have learned that troubles did not mean the end of the world. The book made me realize I was not poor. I just did not have any money at that specific moment. And it truly set me free! I was filled with hope and the next day, as I went outside, my mood was different; my perception of the world was different. I created a plan that has transformed my life in an amazing way.

Those who know me at the present time do not realize that I was once a poor boy that left Monte Carlo. Meeting Napoleon Hill in his book The Law of Success in some public library at Balneário Camboriú’s has truly changed my life. I became a professor, an international lecturer, and also the U.N. invited Ombudsman*. My books have been published on three continents. When I tell my story about my life’s journey, I do not intend to be vain at all. Believe it! I do it because I know that my story carries a pedagogical value. Just like anyone else’s life. In fact I share my story as a testimony to the effectiveness of Napoleon Hill’s philosophy of success. Today I continue to set goals for myself and nurture all the dreams I have in my heart. I have been studying the Law of Success since 1978. And I will continue to study this great philosophy of success for a very long time.

Reading The Law of Success had a powerful impact on my life that I made a personal commitment to share this philosophy in Brazil. Today I am the CEO of one of the greatest business schools for leaders in my country, the MASTER MIND group. We are officially accredited by The Napoleon Hill Foundation to conduct courses on Napoleon Hill’s methodology in Brazil and in all other Portuguese-speaking countries. We use Napoleon Hill’s seventeen principles of success for effective leadership. The Law of Success and Think and Grow Rich represents a wealth of information thanks to the 20-year robust research by Napoleon Hill. Our MASTER MIND objective is to turn knowledge into practice. We give our classroom participants concepts and tools they can use in both their personal and professional life.

I have a well-defined personal purpose of life: To help impact the collective unconscious of Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries. To help the culture of these nations by positively impacting leaders to make their country a better place in which to live.

The Little Book of Leadership

The Path to Personal Power

by Napoleon Hill

This true lost manuscript from the “grandfather of self-help,” Napoleon Hill provides timeless wisdom on how to attain a more successful and wealthy life using simple principles.

Napoleon Hill first wrote The Path to Personal Power in 1941, intending it as a handbook for people lifting themselves out of the Great Depression. But upon the bombing of Pearl Harbor and America’s entrance into World War II, these lessons were put aside and largely forgotten–until today.

Discovered in the archives of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, this never-before-published work is made up of three easily digested lessons, each its own chapter: Definiteness of Purpose; the Master Mind; and Going the Extra Mile.

This concise book is a powerful road map that leads to a single discovery–you already have the power to attain whatever wealth, success, and prosperity you desire in life. All you need to do is walk the path without straying, and the rest will follow.

Using these lessons, you have principles to live by that will help you stay on your own personal path to power, and achieve success that you never thought possible.

Will be released on July 18, 2017 on Amazon.com

How to Own Your Own Mind

In How to Own Your Mind, you receive a one-of-a-kind master class in how to think for success from motivational pioneer and author of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill. In three compelling chapters, Hill demonstrates how to organize, prioritize, and act on information so that it translates into opportunity.

Knowledge is not power. Only applied knowledge is power. This book teaches you how to use what you know, and how to know what’s worth knowing.

“The name Napoleon Hill is synonymous with practical advice on how to get ahead.”—Mitch Horowitz, CNBC.com

Will be released on September 19th on Amazon.com

Think and Grow Rich

by Napoleon Hill

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
