NAPOLEON HILL HAS CREATED A POST GRADUATE COURSE
FOR YOU!

It is because we sincerely feel that every reader of Think and Grow Rich should go on into this post graduate course, that we take the liberty here of giving a few brief side lights upon this brilliant work. Napoleon Hill’s Course presents the true Philosophy upon which all lasting success is built. Ideas, when translated into intelligent plans of action, are the beginning of all successful achievement. So this course proceeds to show you how to create practical ideas for every human need. It does it in easy-to-understand lessons. Napoleon Hill spent the better part of twenty-five years in perfecting this Philosophy of Success. During the long years he has worked on it, some parts or the whole of it, have been reviewed and praised by many of the greatest Americans of our times. Among them are included four Presidents of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Wm. H. Taft; Thomas Edison, Luther Burbank, Wm. J. Wrigley, Alexander Graham Bell, Judge E. H. Gary, Cyrus H. K. Curtis, Edward Bok, E.M. Statler—dozens of glowing names in Politics, Finance, Education, and Invention.

Don’t waste your own precious years blindly searching for the hidden road to the heights. Profit by the dearly brought experience of America’s leaders. Over 500 great and prominent men of America were minutely analyzed—their methods, motives, strategy—to find out the secrets that put them on top. No matter whether you are rich or poor—you have one asset as great as the richest man living—and that is TIME. But with each setting sun you become one day older, and have one day less in which to attain the success and wealth you desire. Thousands of progressive people throughout the North American continent have realized this mighty truth, and have sought the help so clearly and inspiringly taught in Napoleon Hill. You cannot afford to let day after day slip into eternity, without getting possession of this course. You will profit greatly from the lessons in THINK AND GROW RICH. You will take even more brilliant and gratifying rewards from this course. The cost is trifling; the benefits are tremendous.

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

Dear Readers,

As a young person, I had lofty goals centered on accumulating material possessions. When you are in your twenties, there is nothing wrong with wanting a Rolex, a black Mercedes, or millions of dollars in the bank, but as we age, we realize that none of that really matters. After all, Ben Sweetland said that success is a journey, and not a destination.

There is nothing wrong with accumulating wealth, but if that is our sole purpose in life, then we are simply wasting our time. If we realize that it is not about where we end up, but the journey itself, we will be much better off. If we can use our accomplishments to make a difference in someone else’s life, then we can understand why “It is more blessed to give, than to receive.”

The Napoleon Hill Foundation is located on the campus of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise where I have served as a Board Member for many years. I am part of the Foundation Board, which is the fundraising department for the college, and the money we raise helps provide scholarships to students.

One of the officers in the fundraising team here at the college always includes this quote from Winston Churchill in her email, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” To me, ultimate success is when we use what we have to impact the lives of others.

If you are involved in helping others, I congratulate you. If not, why don’t you try it? You will be amazed at the results.

I wish you the best,
Don Green

The Law of Success

How a Doer Uses Time
by Napoleon Hill

My guess is that if you’ve made it this far, you’re determined to be a doer. Great! Let’s look at some places where a doer can make a substantial difference in his or her life by the wise use of time.

Relationships

A doer inspires cooperation from others by giving it first. Doers don’t spend time arguing, nitpicking, or gossiping. And they avoid people who do. Doers don’t waste their time with drifters. They realize that defeatist attitudes can be contagious, and they don’t want to be infected. They aren’t selfish; they’re just particular. Instead, they associate with people who are willing to work with them. They offer those people the extra-mile service they offer everyone. In return they gain enthusiasm and support. Doers have sympathy for drifters. They’ll even point the way toward definiteness or purpose and lend a hand to anyone who has gained just that much. But they know that they can’t help someone who isn’t ready to help himself or herself. They also delegate work. Doers know that you should never do anything which you can get someone else to do for you better than you can do it. They realize they have to be available to the people who are working with them, and they offer those people all the access they need.

Some Doers You Should Know

William Sydney Porter sat in his prison cell contemplating the stupidity of the embezzlement that had brought him there. As near as he could figure, the only thing he had gained was a lot of spare time. And since he had several years left in his term, there didn’t seem to be a lot he could do with it.

But there was, and Porter did it. He began to write short stories. He wrote many of them. Then he began to sell those short stories to magazines under the name O. Henry. By the time he was released, he was already the most popular short story writer in the country. He walked out of prison into a success.

Warren Avis was a doer. As an air force officer, he was constantly traveling the country and he recognized how convenient it would be for people to be able to rent a car right at the airport. While his $10,000 in savings wasn’t enough money to set up an operation on his own, he did have the gumption to put together a business plan and get a bank loan. Within eight years he had car-rental counters in airports across America and was able to sell the company for almost eight million dollars. Avis saw an 800 percent return on his investment because he was willing to do all the work necessary to make that chance pay off.

One of these men started off serving a jail term, the other serving his country. But they both recognized that in order to make their lives amount to something, they had to become doers by taking control of their time.

Financial Planning For the Birds
by Jim Stovall

Birds are among the most fascinating creatures on earth. Bird watching is one of the most popular hobbies. I believe people enjoy watching birds because birds have mastered the art of flight. Most birds are able to fly, but they do it in different ways.

Birds are able to propel themselves through thin air by using three different methods of flight. Most birds achieve flight by flapping their wings. This great effort on their part causes them to have enough momentum so that the air flowing under their wings creates lift. Some birds, after they have flapped their wings for a period of time, are able to glide. They can, in essence, coast using the momentum they have previously generated by flapping their wings. The most elite performers and the rarest in the bird world are able to soar. These enlightened creatures, through understanding air currents and thermals, are able to use the environment around them and their understanding of it to fly for hours and many miles with very little or no effort on their own part.

When it comes to money, we can all learn from our friends the birds.

Most people among us know no way to survive financially other than flapping their wings through working at a job and living paycheck-to-paycheck. These people work hard and spend every penny they earn—and often a bit more—thanks to our culture of credit.

Then there are the individuals who have flapped their financial wings long enough to save a few dollars so they can glide for a relatively brief period of time on the income that their previous effort has brought them. While this is better than frantically flapping through your entire financial life, there is still a far better way to travel.

There are a few elite financial birds among us who have mastered the art of soaring. They started out by working hard for their money while they were learning how to make their money work hard for them. These successful financial flyers can use the financial environment around them via interest, dividends, and capital gains much like the eagles use wind currents and thermals to reach heights others cannot even imagine.

The next time you decide to go bird watching, don’t forget the financial lessons our feathered friends can teach us. As you go through your day today, commit to soaring financially like the eagles.

Today’s the day!
Jim Stovall

The Path to Personal Power

by Napoleon Hill

This true lost manuscript from the “grandfather of self-help,” Napoleon Hill provides timeless wisdom on how to attain a more successful and wealthy life using simple principles.

Napoleon Hill first wrote The Path to Personal Power in 1941, intending it as a handbook for people lifting themselves out of the Great Depression. But upon the bombing of Pearl Harbor and America’s entrance into World War II, these lessons were put aside and largely forgotten–until today.

Discovered in the archives of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, this never-before-published work is made up of three easily digested lessons, each its own chapter: Definiteness of Purpose; the Master Mind; and Going the Extra Mile.

This concise book is a powerful road map that leads to a single discovery–you already have the power to attain whatever wealth, success, and prosperity you desire in life. All you need to do is walk the path without straying, and the rest will follow.

Using these lessons, you have principles to live by that will help you stay on your own personal path to power, and achieve success that you never thought possible.
