Alguien alguna vez dijo que nadie puede realmente motivar a alguien más, todo lo que podemos hacer es motivarnos a nosotros mismos y esperar los resultados. Probablemente nunca sepas lo mucho que puedes influir en los demás con tu comportamiento. Siempre que recorres esa milla extra podrás influir en aquellos que están dentro de tu círculo de amistades, conocidos, familiares, compañeros de trabajo, e incluso en tus jefes para que hagan un mejor trabajo del que habían hecho hasta entonces. Esa valorización de ti mismo y de los demás en tu alrededor mejora notablemente por tu capacidad para influir en los demás a que sean más felices y más productivos. No hay topes de salario o limites de desarrollo profesional para aquellos que pueden guiar a los demás hacia mayores alturas de éxito. Esas gentes son simplemente muy valiosas.

Es un hecho que la mayoría de nosotros fracasamos muchas veces antes de alcanzar el nivel de éxito que deseamos. Puede que recorras esa milla extra de esfuerzo muchas veces solo para toparte con desilusiones al final del arcoíris. Pero dejar de intentarlo te privará de las grandes riquezas que te esperan al no renunciar a tu esfuerzo. Un compromiso superficial para hacer tu máximo esfuerzo, condicionado a esperar a recibir algo a cambio, no te ayudará a mantenerte en el camino de tu objetivo a largo plazo. Los grandes resultados son producto de un compromiso por hacer las cosas de manera correcta sin importar las consecuencias, y ese compromiso finalmente te guiará hasta la meta deseada al final del arcoíris.

Cuando realizas una acción en perjuicio o beneficio de alguien más, esas gentes responderán de la misma manera. Si eres una persona amable y decente, lo que puedes esperar a cambio es ser bien tratado. Pero si por el contrario utilizas a otros para tu propio beneficio sin dar nada a cambio, pronto verás resultados desalentadores para ti. A la gente le gusta trabajar con gente positiva y atenta. Comienza desde ahora a desarrollar el hábito de ir la milla extra y esforzarte más.

En nuestra sociedad de hoy en donde “todo es negociable”, estamos constantemente bombardeados con mensajes que nos dicen que tenemos lo que exigimos, y no lo que nos merecemos. Algunas veces puedes lograr el éxito de manera temporal al exigir más de lo que realmente mereces pero esa condición generalmente no dura mucho tiempo. Las acciones “llamativas y efectistas” inicialmente puede recibir la mayor atención, pero al final las acciones justas son las que realmente perdurarán. Es fácil generar problemas y disentir de los demás, pero muy difícil es ser capaz de guiar a otros en un espíritu de cooperación y armonía. ¿De estás dos personalidades cual crees que es más valiosa para una organización? Las mayores recompensas en la vida, tanto financieras como personales, siempre estarán ligadas a quienes optan por la cooperación y no por el desacuerdo.
