Help Yourself By Helping Others
by Napoleon Hill
All of us have met successful people who claim they are "self-made." Actually, there's no such thing as a completely self-made man or woman. People who make such claims only prove that it's possible for ingrates to make money. Every person who reaches the top receives substantial boosts along the way from others. The simple law of fair play requires that he respond by helping others.
The turning point in my own career, for example, came when Andrew Carnegie advised me to begin organizing the Science of Success as a definitive philosophy of knowledge-and gave me his active help and support to do so.
You can further your own career by helping others achieve their goals. There is no greater truth than the wonderful epigram: "Help thy brother's boat across and lo! thine own hath reached the shore."
