Personal Initiative

You may or may not know that “Personal Initiative” is Napoleon Hill’s 6th Principle in the Keys for Success. Being the Sixth Principle out of seventeen success Principles should give you a better sense as to the importance of Personal Initiative in relationship to the overall 17 Keys of Success. The sixth Key is what I call the DO IT NOW principle. I equate initiative with action, personal action. Things will only begin to happen when you start to make things happen. You can have the best plans, ideas and thoughts in your mind and nothing will happen until you take action. Like the old Chinese proverb elegantly says “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.

What Having A Positive Mental Attitude Does for Success

Success does not happen by accident. There is a science to achieving success. The good news is that the “science” itself is simple, doesn’t require a formal college education and has zero costs, making the attainment of success possible for virtually everyone. And, the only tool you need to begin to successfully use the science of success in attaining the life you desire, is one you already possess -- your mind.

The Golden Rule

Everyone has heard of The Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have done unto you. The challenge is applying it in our lives, on a daily basis, in everything we do. An adaptation of The Golden Rule is to do unto others as they would have done unto them. We are all unique and what you would like people to do to you is often different than what other people want done unto them.

Going the Extra Mile

Going the Extra Mile is PMA in action. Every successful person has a willingness to put their faith into action and help others without expecting a reward, payment, or acknowledgment. They do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. What person in your life would epitomize this?

Enthusiasm

Ka-POW! That’s what enthusiasm feels like to me. Enthusiasm is an internal … intangible … vibrating energy felt within my mind and within my heart. Napoleon Hill’s masterful essay on the principle of enthusiasm defined enthusiasm as a state of mind that inspires one to put action into the task at hand.

My Fifty Cents

There is a saying you probably heard before that goes like this: “You get what you pay for.” That is true in most cases when it comes to services and goods. This is something that thanks to our economy we have rightfully come to expect. But what can you expect to get from something that costs only fifty cents? Here is one instance where that saying is not true, but in a very good way.

Mastermind

Napoleon Hill said, “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand.” The proper use of a mastermind group is the cornerstone to all great achievement, and it is one of the steps that people most often overlook. On our own, we can only ever have a limited amount of experience, a mastermind group allows us to draw freely from the experience, training, skills, and knowledge of others who align with our definite major purpose. The resulting benefits include a magnification of the combined qualities of each member, as well as increased courage, faith, and a host of other positive advantages. In other words, on your own, you’re a single brushstroke, but in a mastermind group you could become a Monet.
