A System of Success

Enroll today!!!

Dear Student of Napoleon Hill,

This online distance learning course presents and examines the principles of success researched and developed by Dr. Napoleon Hill and others. It provides a framework for students to better understand life’s opportunities and the need for definiteness of purpose.

The class is based on and structured around Hill’s 17 Principles of Success. Each lesson focuses on one principle and contains online reading assignments, points to ponder, chapter quizzes, Napoleon Hill vintage audio and just released video, articles from the Think and Grow Rich and PMA Adviser newsletters, class discussion questions, journal writing assignments and, other activities that help reinforce the principle being studied. Each student in the class has a personalized relationship with a fully accredited and approved instructor for Napoleon Hill Distance Learning Courses. The class concludes with an assignment dealing with an individualized plan for personal success.

It is because we sincerely feel that every reader of Think and Grow Rich should go on into this post graduate course, that we take the liberty here of giving a few brief side lights upon this brilliant work. Napoleon Hill’s Course presents the true Philosophy upon which all lasting success is built. Ideas, when translated into intelligent plans of action, are the beginning of all successful achievement. So this course proceeds to show you how to create practical ideas for every human need. It does it in easy-to-understand lessons. Napoleon Hill spent the better part of twenty-five years in perfecting this Philosophy of Success.

During the long years he has worked on it, some parts or the whole of it, have been reviewed and praised by many of the greatest Americans of our times. Among them are included four Presidents of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Wm. H. Taft; Thomas Edison, Luther Burbank, Wm. J. Wrigley, Alexander Graham Bell, Judge E. H. Gary, Cyrus H. K. Curtis, Edward Bok, E.M. Statler — dozens of glowing names in Politics, Finance, Education, Invention.

Don’t waste your own precious years blindly searching for the hidden road to the heights. Profit by the dearly brought experience of America’s leaders. Over 500 great and prominent men of America were minutely analyzed — their methods, motives, strategy — to find out the secrets that put them on top. No matter whether you are rich or poor — you have one asset as great as the richest man living — and that is TIME. But with each setting sun you become one day older, and have one day less in which to attain the success and wealth you desire. Thousands of progressive people throughout the North American continent have realized this mighty truth, and have sought the help so clearly and inspiringly taught in Napoleon Hill. You cannot afford to let day after day slip into eternity, without getting possession of this course. You will profit greatly from the lessons in Think and Grow Rich. You will take even more brilliant and gratifying rewards from this course. The cost is trifling; the benefits are tremendous.

“I am a graduate of my Grandfather’s philosophy. I studied Napoleon Hill for years, reading Think and Grow Rich now eight times. I even used his philosophy to change my life —twice! In spite of this, the course pulled the philosophy all together for me and gave me a deeper understanding!”

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

Dear Readers,

I have learned that reading good books leads to a better future and a life of worthwhile purpose—and you can learn this same important lesson. When you plan for success, it will be absolutely necessary that you maintain a good reading program.

Reading should not be limited to books, but should include varied types of material. For example, if your career is in finance, banking, or investments, you will want to read constantly in order to stay current. Also read biographies of successful men and women, both past and present. You can learn from Carnegie, Rockefeller, and other giants of the past. Today’s financial leaders, such as Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch, will keep you informed on important matters that you need to know.

Just imagine doing the same job as others who do not have a good reading program. By having such a program, you will position yourself to be a leader instead of a follower in whatever job or organization you choose to work.

A good friend and mentor of mine, James A. Brown, Jr., known to his friends simply as Jim, once told me the following story:

I remember the seventh grade when I was encouraged to read books. It was the first time I had been tested as to what grade level I had reached—and guess what? Here I was in the seventh grade and I tested at a fifth-grade level. My teacher told the class she would make a record of the books we read by putting a star by each name every time we read a book and gave her a two-page report. By the end of the year, nobody in my class was even close to the number of books I had read.

I was, along with my sister, being raised on $125 per month by our mother, and knowing I faced poverty every day. I worked at anything, including fixing flats or whatever, to make money, and I developed a work ethic which is still with me today.

He also continued to read.

Jim went on to finish Grundy High School, located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia where poverty that endured from one generation to another was common. He then attended Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, where he obtained a degree in engineering. Jim began working at a coal company for $600 per month, but he had much bigger plans for his life. By age 29, he had started a coal company of his own and organized a bank. Among his accomplishments, in addition to mining coal and drilling for natural gas, he has bred and raised some of the finest Arabian horses in the world. Jim has also been successful in land development and manufacturing on a grand scale.

Jim Brown would fit almost anyone’s definition of success—he’s still married to his college sweetheart, Bliss, and they are the parents of a son and a daughter who have both been successful on their own. If success begins in the home, he is a perfect example.

I can only fathom what Jim’s career might have looked like if that seventh-grade teacher had not encouraged him to read. Guess what: Jim still is an avid reader of good books today—books of every kind and category.

As you set your goals for a bright 2021 be sure to include a great reading list!

May this be your brightest and most successful year ever!

I wish you the best,
Don Green

The hands of the Clock of Time are moving swiftly onward! We cry out, “Backward, turn backward, O Time in your flight,” but Time does not heed your cries.

It is later than you think!

Arouse yourself, fellow wayfarer; awake and take possession of your own mind while you still have enough Time to become, during the yet unexpired future, that which you would have liked to have been in the past.

Make the most of your present allotment of Time, with the hope that you will not have to reincarnate in order to do the job all over again because of neglect.

You have been warned!

Now the responsibility is YOURS. There is a simple test by which you may judge whether or not you have been using your Time to best advantage. If you have attained peace of mind and material opulence sufficient for your needs, your Time has been properly used. If you have not attained these blessings, your Time has not been properly used, and you should begin now to search for the circumstances in connection with which you have fallen short.

The truly great people have no such reality as “idle time,” because they keep their minds geared eternally to patterns of constructive thought. By this profound use of their Time, they develop an alert sixth sense through which they look, listen, and see from within.

If negative thoughts stray into the minds of the truly great, these thoughts are immediately transmuted into positive thoughts and exercised by positive physical action appropriate to their nature.

Tick, tick, tick—the pendulum of the Clock of Time is swinging rapidly!

The entire face of civilization is undergoing an uplifting operation.

Mr. Right and Mr. Wrong are engaged in mortal combat for supremacy. The Time has come for everyone to stand up and be counted. The use each of us makes of our individual allotment of Time will tell whose side each of us is on—Mr. Right’s or Mr. Wrong’s.

Something has speeded up the Clock of Time so rapidly that the last half of the twentieth century will reveal to humankind more individual opportunities for self-improvement than have been revealed during the entire past of humankind’s existence.

Your share of these vast OPPORTUNITIES may be embraced and used only by the way you relate yourself to TIME!

Beginnings and Endings
by Jim Stovall

In addition to writing weekly columns and my motivational, success, and financial books, I enjoy writing novels and working on the process of having those novels turned into movies. To date, four of my novels have been turned into films with two more in production and scheduled for release next year.

Novels and movies are clear, concise, and finite. There is a beginning, a middle, and an ending. These stories allow us to encapsulate slices of life in a manageable format so we can be informed, entertained, and hopefully, inspired. Real-life is not nearly so simple.

I am fond of Winston Churchill’s statement during the height of World War II. The prime minister said, “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”

In my travels to make speeches in arena and corporate events, I get to meet many people seeking success in their personal and professional lives. They often refer to the beginning or ending of their success quest with statements such as, “Next week I’m going to begin pursuing a new goal that will make me successful” or “Once I reach that point, I will truly be successful and know that I have arrived.” In reality, success has no beginning or ending. Goals are simply a means to compartmentalize our activity so we can measure our progress and performance.

In each of our personal and professional lives, we have thousands of activities, relationships, and projects going on all the time. New projects and goals begin as others end, only to be replaced by a new and loftier aspiration never before considered or contemplated.

Several years ago, I wrote a book entitled A Christmas Snow that was subsequently made into a movie with the same title. After the success of that movie, it was made into a musical stage play that ran for over 100 performances. Veteran actor Muse Watson of NCIS fame played the lead role in both the movie and musical stage play. I remember talking with Muse during a particularly frustrating day of rehearsals shortly before opening night. Everyone in the cast and crew seemed to be panicking about all the things that needed to be done and tasks that had to be completed before the opening.

At the height of the chaos, Muse turned to me, and in that resonant, famous voice, said, “Jim, at times like this, I try to remember how well things in life turn out for me when I just do the next thing right, and do the right thing next.” Muse’s statement was uttered in a moment and remains profound for a lifetime.

As you go through your day today, remember beginnings and endings come and go, and today’s the day!

Andrew Carnegie’s Mental Dynamite

by Napoleon Hill

Based on a series of booklets written by bestselling motivational writer Napoleon Hill, Andrew Carnegie’s Mental Dynamite outlines the importance of three essential principles of success: self-discipline, learning from defeat, and the Golden Rule applied.

In 1908, Napoleon Hill met industrialist Andrew Carnegie for what he believed would be a short interview for an article. Instead, Carnegie spent hours detailing his principles of success to the young magazine reporter. He then challenged Hill to devote 20 years to collating a proven formula that would propel people of all backgrounds to happiness, harmony, and prosperity. Hill accepted the challenge, which he distilled in the perennial bestseller Think and Grow Rich.

Now, more than a century later, the Napoleon Hill Foundation is releasing this epic conversation to remind people that there are simple solutions to the problems troubling us most, everything from relationships and education to homelessness and even democracy. This is revealed in three major principles: self-discipline, which shows how the six departments of the mind may be organized and directed to any end; learning from defeat, which describes how defeat can be made to yield “the seed of an equivalent benefit” and how to turn it into a stepping-stone to greater achievement; and the Golden Rule applied for developing rewarding relationships, peace of mind, and a strengthened consciousness.

Each chapter draws on Carnegie’s words and advice as inspiration, with annotations by Napoleon Hill scholar James Whittaker explaining why they are essential for reaching your goals and prospering—for you, your family, and your community.
