Positive Mental Attitude:
A System of Success

Sign up today!

Dear Student of Napoleon Hill,

This online distance learning course presents and examines the principles of success researched and developed by Dr. Napoleon Hill and others. It provides a framework for students to better understand life’s opportunities and the need for definiteness of purpose.

The class is based on and structured around Hill’s 17 Principles of Success. Each lesson focuses on one principle and contains online reading assignments, points to ponder, chapter quizzes, Napoleon Hill vintage audio and just released video, articles from the Think and Grow Rich and PMA Adviser newsletters, class discussion questions, journal writing assignments and, other activities that help reinforce the principle being studied. Each student in the class has a personalized relationship with a fully accredited and approved instructor for Napoleon Hill Distance Learning Courses. The class concludes with an assignment dealing with an individualized plan for personal success.

It is because we sincerely feel that every reader of Think and Grow Rich should go on into this post graduate course, that we take the liberty here of giving a few brief side lights upon this brilliant work. Napoleon Hill’s Course presents the true Philosophy upon which all lasting success is built. Ideas, when translated into intelligent plans of action, are the beginning of all successful achievement. So this course proceeds to show you how to create practical ideas for every human need. It does it in easy-to-understand lessons. Napoleon Hill spent the better part of twenty-five years in perfecting this Philosophy of Success.

During the long years he has worked on it, some parts or the whole of it, have been reviewed and praised by many of the greatest Americans of our times. Among them are included four Presidents of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Wm. H. Taft; Thomas Edison, Luther Burbank, Wm. J. Wrigley, Alexander Graham Bell, Judge E. H. Gary, Cyrus H. K. Curtis, Edward Bok, E.M. Statler — dozens of glowing names in Politics, Finance, Education, Invention.

Don’t waste your own precious years blindly searching for the hidden road to the heights. Profit by the dearly brought experience of America’s leaders. Over 500 great and prominent men of America were minutely analyzed — their methods, motives, strategy — to find out the secrets that put them on top. No matter whether you are rich or poor — you have one asset as great as the richest man living — and that is TIME. But with each setting sun you become one day older, and have one day less in which to attain the success and wealth you desire. Thousands of progressive people throughout the North American continent have realized this mighty truth, and have sought the help so clearly and inspiringly taught in Napoleon Hill. You cannot afford to let day after day slip into eternity, without getting possession of this course. You will profit greatly from the lessons in Think and Grow Rich. You will take even more brilliant and gratifying rewards from this course. The cost is trifling; the benefits are tremendous.

“I am a graduate of my Grandfather’s philosophy. I studied Napoleon Hill for years, reading Think and Grow Rich now eight times. I even used his philosophy to change my life —twice! In spite of this, the course pulled the philosophy all together for me and gave me a deeper understanding!”

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

Dear Readers,

One day while I was in class, someone from the principal’s office called the room over the public address system and said, “If Don Green is in class, tell him his mother called and said that his black bear had got out of his cage and his mother said for him to come home.”

It probably took me about 15 minutes to get home and discover a lot of excitement. No doubt when I had left the cage that morning, I had closed the cage door but had failed to lock it. Sometime during the day, Sammy had pushed against the door; since it was not locked, it came open, and Sammy had his freedom. The bear was going wild, running around and chasing the ducks (he killed one of them), and the monkeys in their cages were screaming and making noises I had never heard before.

While this happened years ago, I still remember it well. I was not the least bit excited, and I really enjoyed what was happening. I did not see the potential danger that a black bear could easily kill a person. Monroe Moore, a bread salesman, had stopped (along with a lot of traffic). At once I got the idea of getting a box of oatmeal cakes from the salesman, as I remembered that Sammy loved sweets. When Sammy saw me, he realized that I had something for him. So I started unwrapping a cake and pitched it toward him. At the same time, I was backing up toward Sammy’s bear cage. By the time I got Sammy close to the door, I had one cake left, and I pitched it barely inside the door.

Sammy realized what was happening, and he stuck his head in the door to get the cake and started to back out. I took my foot and kicked his butt; it caused him to jump forward, and I closed the door. This time I locked the door and went back to school. You may wonder how this story is related to the book. Here’s how.

Sometimes force, coercion, threats, and intimidation
may work, but giving someone something that he
wants or needs will usually get better and longer lasting
results. The old saying is, one can catch
more flies with honey than with vinegar.

This lesson applies even more to people: you are much more likely to get what you want by helping others get what they either need or want. When you work with others and apply the Golden Rule, you will be rewarded. It has been said that you can never exercise any great amount of influence over others until you first learn to exercise control over yourself.

I wish you the best,
Don Green

1. I believe in the Golden Rule as the basis of all human conduct; therefore, I will never do to another person that which I would not be willing for that person to do to me if our positions were reversed.

2. I will be honest, even to the slightest details, in all my transactions with others, not alone because of my desire to be fair with them, but because of my desire to impress the idea of honesty on my own subconscious mind, thereby weaving this essential quality into my own character.

3. I will forgive those who are unjust towards me, with no thought as to whether they deserve it or not, because I understand the law through which forgiveness of others strengthens my own character and wipes out the effects of my own transgressions, in my own subconscious mind.

4. I will be just, generous and fair with others always, even though I know that these acts will go unnoticed and unrewarded, in the ordinary terms of reward, because I understand and intend to apply the law through the aid of which one’s own character is but the sum total of one’s own acts and deeds.

5. Whatever time I may have to devote to the discovery and exposure of the weakness and faults of others, I will devote, more profitably, to the discovery and correction of my own.

6. I will slander no person, no matter how much I may believe another person may deserve it, because I wish to plant no destructive suggestion in my own subconscious mind.

7. I recognize the power of Thought as being an inlet leading into my brain from the universal ocean of life; therefore, I will set no destructive thoughts afloat upon that ocean lest they pollute the minds of others.

8. I will conquer the common human tendency towards hatred, and envy, and selfishness, and jealousy, and malice, and pessimism, and doubt, and fear; for I believe these to be the seed from which the world harvests most of its troubles.

9. When my mind is not occupied with thoughts that tend towards the attainment of my definite chief aim in life, I will voluntarily keep it filled with thoughts of courage, and self-confidence, and good-will towards others, and faith, and kindness, and loyalty, and the love for the truth, and justice, for I believe these to be the seed from which the real world reaps its harvest of progressive growth.

10. I understand that a mere passive belief in the soundness of Golden Rule philosophy is of no value whatsoever, either to myself or to others; therefore, I will actively put into operation this universal rule for good in all my transactions with others.

11. I understand the law through the operation of which my own character is developed from my own acts and thoughts; therefore, I will guard with care all that goes into its development.

12. Realizing that enduring happiness comes only through helping others find it; that no act of kindness is without its reward, even though it may never be directly repaid, I will do my best to assist others when and where the opportunity appears.

Lesson from a Legend
by Jim Stovall

One of the many privileges arising from my work at the Narrative Television Network is the opportunity to meet and interview really wonderful people from all walks of life. Many of these encounters were compiled into my second book entitled Success Secrets of Super Achievers. The thought is that success is a pattern; it can be observed, followed, and duplicated.

I am reminded of my interview with Steve Allen, who is probably best known for his work in television as the creator of The Tonight Show as we know it today. Few people know that Mr. Allen has written over 5,000 songs and has a Grammy Award to his credit. He has written 32 books, and he was working on his newest one the day I showed up to interview him at his office at the studio in California.

The most amazing thing I found about Steve Allen is that he is a very ordinary, common man. He felt most comfortable talking with the camera people and the crew, and was very unpretentious. When it was time for the interview, the attitude he displayed was “I’ll do my job, and you do your job.”

I believe he revealed the secret of his success when he said, “I try to never lose touch with the common man. I just visualize a guy at home watching television, and if I can come to him at his level, he will relate to me and feel good about me.”

In his own way as a worldwide celebrity and one of the most talented and gifted people of our generation, Steve Allen has found the secret to greatness, which is his own personal form of the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. Not because it is some outdated theory, but instead, because you really believe everyone in the world has a vital function to perform, and everyone should be treated with respect.

As we go through our day seeking to elevate ourselves toward what we believe to be success, let us never forget the lesson from the legend, Steve Allen: Treat everyone in the world as if they are a star, and the world will collectively make you a star.

Today’s the day!

ADVERSITY & ADVANTAGE
(coming in November 2021)

An inspiring guide to facing difficult times with strength and courage—the only true path to success—from the greatest voice in personal success literature, Napoleon Hill.

This newly annotated work from the Napoleon Hill Foundation collects a series of radio interviews Napoleon Hill gave as the world healed from the Second World War. With the world still recovering from the wounds, physical and mental, that accumulated from the conflict, Napoleon Hill felt that he could not enjoy retirement without coming forward one last time to deliver this series of talks. Hill’s message was that success cannot be achieved without failure. Strength and innovation in the face of adversity is the only true success—exactly the kind of message that many readers will want to hear after a global pandemic has caused upset and conflict around the world today. Hill gives his advice for conditioning the mind for success, identifying the three great markers of failure, and more, in this valuable and inspiring guide.

Master-Key to Riches

Self-Confidence Formula

by Napoleon Hill

Your formula to build a strong sense of self-worth so that you can better recognize opportunity, take action on your dreams, and enhance your resilience.

A lack of self-confidence is one of the greatest maladies of today’s world, one that is responsible for the rampant helplessness, lack of self-control, aimlessness, procrastination, and despair that characterize modern society. But as the venerable steel magnate Andrew Carnegie emphasized to Hill, “Confidence is a state of mind, necessary to succeed, and the starting point of developing self-confidence is definiteness of purpose.”

The time for self-doubt and self-criticism is over. Your faith in yourself and your abilities determines whether you fail or succeed. Napoleon Hill’s Self-Confidence Formula enables you to boost your self-confidence through the application of Hill’s strategies for controlling your thoughts. By implementing these principles, you will not only be able to operate at a higher plane of thought and action—attracting more opportunities, gaining influence, and strengthening relationships—but you will also be able to instill this critical quality in others.

Napoleon Hill’s Self-Confidence Formula gives you the keys to success and fulfillment by equipping you to:

• unlearn fears, insecurities, and limitations acquired in childhood and adolescence
• condition your mind to believe in the certainty of your success
• take bold, confident action on your definite chief aim
• conquer your inferiority complex through the mastermind principle
• build the self-reliance and self-esteem of today’s youth

You are now on the journey to confident, purposeful living. As you implement Hill’s principles, you will cultivate a state of mind primed to accept the abundance reserved for you.
