I have been fortunate to travel to many foreign countries that have been enjoyable trips as well as successful trips for the Napoleon Hill Foundation.
One of my favorite trips was due to an invite from SSI in Japan, who has had a business relationship with the Napoleon Hill Foundation for over 35 years.
Mr. Tanaka Taka-Aki invited the trustees to visit Japan. I will always treasure their hospitality and kindness, from being escorted by the VP of a Japanese airline on our first class trip to all of our days touring Japan. We went from Tokyo, on the so called bullet train, to Kyoto (home of Toyota motors) to the old capital of Nara.
On our last night, Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka Taka-Aki had a lovely dinner for the trustees and they showed us pictures of our visit. Two photographers and guides were with us all the time.
After the pictures were shown Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka Taka-Aki played Elvis’ song “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” I was sitting between Mr. and Mrs. Tanaka Taka-Aki and she said they loved Elvis and I told her I did too.
Shin Saikyo is an employee for SSI and resides in the United States. I have been amazed at the kindness, promptness, and honesty of the people like Shin and Mr. Tanaka.
SSI and all of their employees have been a blessing to the Napoleon Hill Foundation. The friendships we have developed are priceless. Japan has done a tremendous job of teaching Napoleon Hill’s principles to our friends in Japan.

Dear Readers:
Since many of you have asked, here is some information on the Napoleon Hill Foundation from the archives. As you can read, the Mission of the Foundation is timeless, and the legacy of Napoleon Hill continues to support current and future generations.
Background: The Foundation was formed August 21, 1962 by Dr. Napoleon Hill and Annie Lou Hill as a not-for-profit Educational Foundation.
The Foundation was established to foster, perpetuate and disseminate throughout the world, by publication and instruction the lifetime research, writing and teachings of Napoleon Hill, Litt. D., Hu. D., Ph.D., Philosopher and Author of the First Practical Philosophy of Personal Achievement as sponsored by Andrew Carnegie.
The Foundation is dedicated to impart this philosophy to business, industry, social service agencies, educators, minority groups, prison inmates, and individuals. The application of the Principles of this Philosophy will help them learn “how to” motivate themselves to high individual achievement and reach their own self-fulfillment.
The goal of the Foundation is to make this world a better place in which to live for this and future generations. Six objectives have been set to accomplish the goal:
• Publish Napoleon Hill’s personalized course of individual study.
• Publish unpublished manuscripts of Napoleon Hill.
• Train instructors in the teaching of the philosophy.
• Hold seminars to teach the philosophy.
• Enable the formation of study groups (online, Facebook, etc.,) as a method of continuation and implementation of the principles of the philosophy.
As the Educational Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I encourage you to read and apply Dr. Hill’s success materials in your daily life. Not only will it make a profound difference in your capacity to reach your personal goals, but it will serve your children’s children as well. Remember, as the Indian saying goes, “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” May both Napoleon Hill’s enduring legacy and our own legacy live well beyond our time spent on this planet.
Thoughts are things, and good thoughts are the gemstones of peace.

Think and Grow Rich

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
