“I fear that one of the great weaknesses in most of us is our tendency to look everywhere except to our own state of mind, for the causes of our difficulties throughout life, and I know, beyond any room for doubt, that we are where we are and what we are, financially and spiritually, because of the dominating thoughts which occupy our minds.”
~Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill Around the World

Many different social media platforms are used today in order to inform people about Napoleon Hill and the seventeen principles of success that he spent his lifetime studying.

The Napoleon Hill Foundation uses its website, ezine, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Instagram, and other relatively new means of promoting the works of Napoleon Hill.

Napoleon Hill books are published by hundreds of publishers all over the world.

The principles of success Napoleon Hill wrote about and spoke about are sold through our website, www.naphill.org, which leads to being certified as a Napoleon Hill Instructor. The classes are ongoing and have been completed by people in many parts of the world. The certified instructors have a desire to learn more about success, and to share it with others.

The Napoleon Hill Foundation has made presentations to thousands of people at one time in many parts of the world.

At present, we have officially authorized a very promising, high quality film, rightly titled “Think and Grow Rich-Legacy.”

There will be many segments of the film bringing stories from Napoleon Hill’s classic Think and Grow Rich. The film production has had tremendous support from many people besides the Napoleon Hill Foundation. It is anticipated to be released in February 2017.

To learn more and to understand the movie’s contents, go to www.thinkthelegacy.com/headtalker.

I wish you the best at whatever you do!

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

“Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them—every day begin the task anew.” ~ St. Francis de Sales

Dear Readers:

Comparison with others is useless. This practice only nags at us when we are unable to achieve someone else’s greatness and opens the door to jealousy, envy, greed, competition, and even hatred. Comparison with our best or higher self is what opens the door to true advancement and healing and positions us on the road to success. By improving our personal attributes and characteristics little by little, we then incrementally climb upwards to become our higher self.

Begin in small ways. Simple things can and do make a profound difference. Ten items to consider for self-advancement are:

1. Talk less, listen more.
2. Watch less visual media, read more.
3. Sit less, move more.
4. Eat less processed foods. Enjoy more whole fruits and vegetables.
5. Condemn less, praise more.
6. Think fewer negative thoughts by intentionally replacing negative thoughts with positive ones (even if they are made up!)
7. Stay indoors less, go outdoors more.
8. Spend less time alone, more time with people.
9. Schedule focused daily meditation, less shotgun thinking time with scattered, unproductive thoughts.
10. Stop ignoring self for others, and replace with scheduled self-care.

Notice that all these items are simple, yet they will have profound results. By focusing on just a little less of what you do that may make you anxious, nervous, stressed, or even overwhelmed, you can begin to adjust your internal controls to ease up on yourself and thereby everyone else. A little goes a long way, and when we perform a little better in each category daily, we can begin to see true advancement in our character overall. Less truly becomes more when we accentuate the positive things in our life that we can control, and eliminate everything else that we allow to enter into our environment. Strive daily to be your own best self, and soon you will see a profound difference in who you have become.

Be Your Very Best Always,
Judy Williamson

The Law of Success

Being Yourself
by Napoleon Hill

I am going to set down forty-three items which pertain to being yourself. Few people will recognize themselves completely in this list, but if you will take a pencil and check each item that you sincerely believe applies to you, it will be most revealing.

1. The man who consistently is himself maintains his poise under all circumstances, whether the circumstances are favorable or unfavorable.
2. He has control of his emotions at all times.
3. He has perfect self-reliance and self-confidence in everything he undertakes.
4. He does not allow himself to be hurried into any careless action.
5. Increasingly, as he succeeds, he controls his own working hours and the conditions under which he works.
6. He never gripes or complains about anything or anyone.
7. He never slanders or condemns anyone.
8. He never talks about himself unless it is necessary, and then never in a spirit of boasting.
9. He is open-minded on all subjects, with all people.
10. He does not fear anything or anyone.
11. He moves about his affairs with quiet definiteness of purpose.
12. Before expressing an opinion he makes sure he has the facts, and he is not afraid to say “I do not know.”
13. He has no racial or religious prejudices.
14. He eats moderately and avoids every other form of excess.
15. Without pretending to be an expert on all subjects, on all subjects he thinks for himself.
16. He is a dependable citizen who cannot be influenced by any “ism” which may be detrimental to his country or its economy.
17. He gives nobody any reason to be his enemy (but you cannot help it if someone dislikes you because of your success).
18. He is at peace with himself and with all mankind.
19. He cannot ever be poor or miserable, for, come what may, in his heart he remains happy and prosperous.
20. All the member of his family love him and thrill to the sound of his footsteps when he comes home.
21. He expresses his gratitude daily for all of his blessings, and shares his blessings with all who have a right to claim a share.
22. He seeks no revenge for any wrongs or injustices done to him.
23. When he speaks of others he makes every effort to avoid mentioning their faults no matter how much their faults may have affected him.
24. He looks into the future by studying the past, and recognizes that history has a way of repeating itself, that eternal truths do not change with the times.
25. He maintains a positive mental attitude.
26. He is slow to accuse, quick to forgive.
27. When others make honest mistakes, he makes allowances for them.
28. He will not profit in any transaction if it harms anyone else.
29. He keeps himself free from the bondage of debt.
30. Having acquired all the wealth he can use beneficially, he does not strain after more: yet he knows with full assurance he can earn more if it should be advisable.
31. He converts all adversities and defeats into assets.
32. Facing defeat, he knows all defeat is temporary.
33. He has a major objective in life and keeps himself busy attaining it.
34. If he has been turned aside from his objective, he analyzes the experience and profits thereby.
35. His life is what he wishes it to be, and he always expected it to be exactly that.
36. As he successively pictures success within his mind and then attains it, he lets his deeds, not his words, display his success to others.
37. He is well-liked by a great many different kinds of people; people of all races and creeds.
38. He is a living example of what a man may be in the United States of America when he takes possession of his own mind and is willing to live and let live.
39. He is no more disturbed by panics and business depressions than he is by matters which affect only himself.
40. He finds it easy to win the full and hearty co-operation of others.
41. He is fair to his adversaries, but he is practically unbeatable because he possesses a power unknown to most men.
42. He is fortified against disappointment because he knows that anything may happen with or without an obvious cause.
43. He does his best at all times, and never feels the need to apologize when circumstances turn against him.

How many items did you check? If you have three-quarters of these virtues, you probably are aware that you are “your own person,” living your own life, knowing your own mind, being yourself without fear or self-consciousness.

Think and Grow Rich

by Napoleon Hill

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
