Napoleon Hill Around the World

Hope for a new year is a time when we should have celebrated the past year, but look to anticipation for a new beginning for ourselves, family, loved ones, and all people over the world.

A new year is a great time for hope which gives us all an expectation and desire for positive results in our lives and in the lives of others.

Many people consciously make New Year’s resolutions of what they would like to accomplish. Studies have shown that many of these New Year resolutions fail to cultivate to their achievement. Experts suggest that New Year resolutions should be viewed as goals. Goals should have a time limit along with plans and steps that would bring the resolution to its fruition.

Resolutions should be realistic as to their accomplishments because you are more likely to keep the resolutions as you can see progress happening throughout the year. Resolutions or goals should be written down and reviewed often with the question asked of oneself, “Am I getting closer to my desired accomplishment?’ And, if not, make plans and take steps to do the necessary deeds to get the results we desire.

One final thought, if your resolution is not strong enough to write it down and take the necessary steps to make it happen, you simply have a dream. It all comes down to “how bad do you want what you desire?” Just making a resolution without effort will most likely fail.

I wish you the best at whatever you do!

“Since the subconscious translates into their logical conclusion all thoughts which reach it–whether they are good or bad for the individual–it is clearly suggested that the way to put the subconscious mind to work for one in a helpful way is by giving it definite orders as to what is desired.”
~Napoleon Hill

“Any business whose management has the foresight to adopt a policy which consolidates management, employees and the public it serves in a spirit of team work, provides itself with an insurance policy against failure.” ~Napoleon Hill

Vintage Essays By Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center at Purdue University Calumnet

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, no only plan, but also believe. ~ Anatole France

Dear Readers:

Planning in advance helps us reach our goals more systematically and with better results. Creating to-do lists, researching needed information, and reflecting on our progress are all valid ways to move forward. Another proven but sometimes controversial way is to put our subconscious mind on duty. By giving direct, uncomplicated orders in a positive fashion to our subconscious mind, we are in effect programming ourselves for success. The subconscious mind is like a person standing a watch and remains on duty day and night. Our conscious mind is not capable of that rigorous work. Just consider our beating heart, our breathing, our digestion, our circulation, and numerous other things that work unconsciously while we rest or sleep. These functions are supervised by our subconscious mind and give our awake minds the time to rest and rejuvenate. Why not assign the subconscious mind the task of helping you fulfill your desires as well? It could be just the little extra push that you need to reach your goals.

Ideas, thoughts, hunches, intuition, maybe coincidences and synchronicities are all influenced by our subconscious minds. When something “just happens” we often credit it to chance, however, our pre-programming of our subconscious mind offers another perspective. Similar to instincts, our subconscious mind guides us in the direction that we have ordered it to go. That is exactly why we must understand the workings of our total mind in order to achieve our desires. For example, if we in self-talk remind ourselves that we are not worthy, when the time comes for advancement we play the “unworthy” program on command and block our chances for success. And, in a relationship, if we are fearful of commitment, our subconscious mind will utilize that program to block any promises of long term relationship.

Start here. Begin with affirmations. Reinvent yourself in the manner you decide by programming your subconscious mind through affirmations – positive self-talk. Repeat these simple declarative sentences several times a day until you have memorized them. Next, create a detailed mental picture of where you want to be in the future as your dreams are fulfilled. Be detailed and specific. See your picture in vivid color and add as much sensory detail as you can. Right before sleep, recite your affirmations while envisioning your desired outcome. Be patient. In a short time you will begin to notice coincidences and even synchronicities that will put you on the path to your dream fulfilled. This is mental gymnastics, and by doing these exercises you create the muscle to reach your highest potential.

Remember, you can if you think you can!

Be Your Very Best Always,
Judy Williamson

The Law of Success

Make Success A Habit
by Napoleon Hill

We are what we are because of the habits we live by each day. Habits are of two types–those we deliberately cultivate to attain definite desired ends, and those which fasten themselves upon us as a result of circumstances we do not try to avoid or control.

Voluntary habits which we set up in our own minds and express repeatedly through our words and deeds are the only dependable means of insuring success in any calling.

A “planned” life is the only successful way to make life pay off on one’s own terms. Every successful career needs the same planning, the same budgeting of time, energy and money, that goes into a successful business enterprise.

Dr. Elmer R. Gates, a distinguished scientist with more inventions registered in the Patent Office than those granted to Thomas A. Edison, has a special room in his home which he called his “mind conditioning room.”

There was nothing in the room except a chair and a table, and a large chart on which were printed in large letters the ten most important habits Gates wished his subconscious mind to pick up and act upon automatically.

After reading the ten habits orally for half an hour, Dr. Gates turned off the lights and pictured in his imagination each of those habits being put into action. When he had a difficult problem he could not otherwise solve, he went into “his mind conditioning” room, wrote the description of the problem on a blackboard, then turned out the lights and asked to be guided to its solution.

Fantastic as it sounds, with this procedure Dr. Gates, one of the great physicists of his time, found the secrets which enabled him to perfect many of his patents.

When Dr. Gates was asked how his “mind conditioning room” gave him access to knowledge not available through any other source, he replied, “All I know is that I state my problem clearly–I believe that solution will be revealed to me–and I remain there and express my gratitude for having received it until the answer comes.”

Asked if his requests for the solution of his problems were stated in the form of prayers, Gates exclaimed: “Of course–for how else could one expect to tap sources of knowledge beyond the accumulated experiences of mankind?”

Napoleon Hill’s Greatest Speeches

from the Archives of Napoleon Hill

We are pleased to present this never before published collection from the one and only, Napoleon Hill.

Along with other never before published material, this volume includes the speech that inspired the worldwide bestseller Think and Grow Rich.

With a foreword by Napoleon’s grandson, Dr. J.B. Hill, and introductory comments by Don Green, Director of The Napoleon Hill Foundation, personal letters from family members and Senator Jennings Randolph, this fascinating exploration of the speeches given by the pioneer of the personal development movement is packed with a wealth of information.

It is a revealing look at one man’s quest for understanding why some men succeed, why others do not, and what makes success something that can be replicated.

This collection will provide you with some of Napoleon’s finest speeches including:

-What I Have Learned From Analyzing 10,000 People
-The Man Who Has Had no Chance
-The Commencement Address at Salem College in Salem, West Virginia, 1922—likely his best-remembered and most-influential speech.

Napoleon Hill dedicated much of his life to solving what he called “the most stupendous problem confronting the human race today.” That is, “How can I get what I want?”

As W. Clement Stone and thousands of others can attest, Hill succeeded in this venture, and we now have a success philosophy that Andrew Carnegie once saw as a possibility.

The pages within this book will tell you of the origins of a personal development legacy.

Think and Grow Rich

by Napoleon Hill

As Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, I receive many requests from people wanting the original 1937 copy of Think and Grow Rich. To satisfy those of you who desire to have a 1937 unedited copy, we have reproduced Napoleon Hill’s personal copy of the first edition, printed in March of 1937. The book has the notation, “not to be loaned,” and signed: Annie Lou Hill (the wife of Dr. Hill). This personal copy of Dr. Hill’s was given to me by Dr. Charles W. Johnson, Chairman of the Napoleon Hill Foundation and a nephew of Napoleon Hill. It was Napoleon Hill who sent Dr. Johnson to medical school, and today he is a practicing cardiologist. Charlie refers to Napoleon Hill as “Uncle Nap” and will often makes the statement, “Uncle Nap would be proud of the Foundation today.” The original 1937 manuscript was written and edited with the assistance of Napoleon’s wife. In later years, the existing document was again edited by Dr. Hill. For example, the Foundation owns a 1958 edition that Hill edited personally. This did not lessen the book’s value in Hill’s judgment. Hill made the editing remarks in his own handwriting and the resulting 1960 edited edition has sold over 100 million copies making it the most read self-help book of all time
